Oh…
This was my entry for the Cheltenham Illustration Awards 2011 titled ‘Oh…’
We were asked to come up with a one page narrative from the title ‘Tree Time Tales’. I came up with a number of ideas, all relating to disasters, something I had been visually interested in since seeing the footage of some the disastrous events that unfolded in Japan earlier this year. But I also had a fascination for the way we view and perceive things though screens all the time, like we’re looking out onto the real world through a peephole.
The story is a combination of those ideas and spans a lifetime, showing just a few of the terrible events that have unfolded over the past 80 years or so, with a humorous ending, that brings perspective our own personal disasters.
